Recent Form

Greater Croftpark Rose have enjoyed a mixed run of results in their build-up to the new campaign. A 4-1 defeat to PGBC Amateurs in the Cinema Cup was a setback, but they have started the season strongly with back-to-back victories over Rosebank United (3-2) and Cathcart AFC (2-1), and also earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Glasgow Ansar.

Rhu Colts, meanwhile, have also shown flashes of quality. They finished off the groups with an emphatic 4-0 win over River Nevis, before narrowly losing 2-1 to Third Lanark Amateurs. Colts started the groups off in impressive fashion , with an impressive 5-2 victory against Westhill United AFC.

What to Expect ?

With both clubs showing attacking promise and inconsistency at the back, this match has the potential to be an open and entertaining contest.

Greater Croftpark Rose’s recent resilience and ability to grind out results may give them a slight edge, but Rhu Colts’ firepower—having scored nine goals in their last three outings—cannot be overlooked.

Team News

Greater Croftpark Rose have been rocked by the news that Shuan McBreaty will miss the big match tomorrow as he is struggling with a foot injury. Unfortunately for GCR Cameron Hendry will also miss out due to work commitments.

Rhu Colts will be hoping Liam Scullion is able to make the game as he is in a race against time as he has been out injured for the last month with a frustrating injury.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR 👀

One of the most fascinating battles in this match will be between the a strong Defender and a clever attacker.

GCR defender Scott Keys is fresh from his man of the match performance against Port Glasgow BC meanwhile his nemesis Ross Jeffrey has scored two goals already this season.

GAFFERS THOUGHTS

GCR Co-Manager said “We know Rhu are a very strong side with a lot of quality, and we’ll have to be at our best to get a result.”

“ Jamie and Sam have done an outstanding job with the team since they joined the GCFA.“

“We’ve prepared well this week, and the players are eager to make up for our defeat to Port Glasgow Boys Club last weekend.”

Sam and I are looking forward to finally getting the season underway with the early kick-off. Games against Croft Park and Greater Glasgow have always been competitive, so I’m expecting a proper test on Saturday morning from this new combined side. We’ll need to be switched on from the start if we want to take anything from it.

Pre-season’s gone well for us, and we were delighted to qualify for the championship out a really tricky group. The lads put in a shift, so they’ve earned the right to be here.

Squad-wise we’re looking alright, even if we’ve still got one or two boys away on holiday. Fingers crossed we get skipper Liam Scullion back in the team after missing a few weeks with an injury picked up outside of football. It’ll be a big boost having him back involved.

The atmosphere round the training pitch has been spot on the last week or two — the boys are eager to get going. We could see as many as five league debuts tomorrow as well, which adds a bit extra to the occasion.

Here’s hoping for a strong start.
