We take a look at the clubs who make up our new and improved Conference league for the 2025/26 season.

BANKNOCK FC

Banknock AFC is a newly established amateur based in the small town of banknock, competing in the GCFA Conference Division.

Banknock started of as an unrealistic chat from two friends sitting playing Xbox on a random night in may and we have grown to a squad that has already shown we can compete with the divisions heavy hitters.

Banknock has a rich history of producing players over the years and we believe it’s a crime there hasn’t been an official banknock club for over 20 years. Banknock is a small community and the love and support the club has had in the short period is mind blowing and this just shows how much it means to us as players and the community who have came and supported us all across the central belt so far.

Banknock we’re founded in the aim to bring some pride back to the community and get a great bunch of lads out the house 3 times a week and socialising.

Banknock are a very young squad which starts with the founding members being a group of friends who are 19/20 who had no clue how to run a football team just 2 months ago, with our youngest player being freshly 18 and our oldest player captain Isaac who is only 23. From a mix of ex junior, pro youth players all the way down to players who haven’t kicked a ball in over 5 years everyone is really enjoying there football and the feel around the club is stronger than its ever been. Our club gives the boys a chance to keep playing the sport they love which for some would have been a fantasy before the club was founded.

The laughs and smiles at training is the biggest win for the boys and the boys looking forward to getting out on the pitch and socialising makes everyone very happy.

Our immediate aim for the season is to win the conference league and get promoted. We have high hopes and believe we are getting better every passing week and we are determined to make a impact on the division.

At Banknock AFC it’s more than the football, it’s a way of life.

BEARSDEN FC

Bearsden have just recently joined the Glasgow Colleges Football Association after taking a year out of football

The GCFA new boys have tried to rebuild during pre season and have definitely brought in a number of players who add to the quality of their squad.

The club unfortunately found their way into the Conference league by finishing in the bottom two positions of a very strong league qualifying group.

BURNHILL FC

Burnhill joined the league just before Covid struck under the name of United Glasgow and were managed by Chris Priestly.

When everyone came back after Covid United Glasgow decided to change their name to Burnhill and a new club with a new ethos was born.

Burnhill have made it to the lofty heights of the Premier League but after a brave season the club were Relegated in season 2023/24

After a slow start Burnhill finished last season strongly with solid performances in both cups and a decent showing in the GCFA bottom half split

The core of the team has largely stayed the same with a couple of additions in the summer to add to a good group at the club.

Slightly disappointing showing in the league seeding group, to end up in 3rd and in the conference but looking forward to the season ahead

Three points from a tough group was only enough to take Burnhill into the Conference league for this upcoming season.

CAMBUSLANG FA

Cambuslang FA have been in the Glasgow Colleges Football Association for a considerable amount of time and have consistently improved year on year.

Managed by Ryan Carmichael the club arguably had their best season to date last campaign.

Camby FA were predicted to be one of the clubs who qualified for the Championship but they were pipped to the post by Lokomotiv Glasgow and Woodbank.

Ryan and his team will be hoping that they will be up there challenging for honours at the top end of the Conference league table.

CATHCART AFC

Founded in 2019, Cathcart AFC was built on one simple idea – bringing old friends back together to enjoy the game we all love. From the very first kick-off, the team wasn’t just about football, it was about friendship, community, and keeping that bond alive on and off the pitch.

Last season was tough – the club had to fold, and for a while it felt like the journey had come to an end. But Cathcart has always been more than a name on a league table. It’s about the lads, the laughs, the graft on a Saturday morning, and the shared love of the game.

Now, we’re back. This season is about picking up where we left off, pulling the shirts back on, and enjoying every minute of football together again. No matter the results, the most important thing is that Cathcart AFC is alive, kicking, and back on the pitch.

Here’s to the return of the boys, the memories still to be made, and another chapter in the Cathcart story.

A fantastic opening day victory over Rosebank was followed by defeats to Greater Croftpark Rose and Glasgow Ansar meaning the returning club would be playing Conference football this season.

The GCFA old/new boys will fancy their chances of making an impact on the Conference league this coming season.

GLASGOW MEDICS

Glasgow Medics AFC is a longstanding amateur football club representing Glasgow Medical School. Since 2013, we have brought together students who share a passion for the beautiful game.

Our squad blends fresh talent with experienced players, all driven by a common goal both on and off the pitch. We strive not just for footballing success, but also to create a culture where members can support one another and develop into upstanding professionals and people.

On the pitch, our goals are clear: play with intensity, uphold our traditions, and continue building a club that thrives on performance and character.

Glasgow Medics are up there with River Nevis as one of the longest serving teams in this new Conference division.

Glasgow Medics must be commended for their efforts as it will be extremely hard to run a competitive team around the shifts that many of their players have to work.

Disappointment struck Medics when they were taken apart by Port Glasgow BC and beaten by Burnhill to confirm their place in the newly formed Conference league.

The Medics management team will be hoping that they can recover from their slow start to the season and get themselves up to the top end of the division.

QUEENS PARK SFC

Queens Park SFC are another team who fancied a change in league set ups and decided to join the Glasgow Colleges Football Association

QPSFC came to the set up from the supporters league and they look like they could be a great addition to our league set up.

The GCFA new boys qualified for the Conference after loosing on penalties in the playoffs to Netherton AFC

QPSFC look like they could be one of the early favourites to win the Conference league going by their early season form.

REMO FC

Remo FC is a newly established amateur football club based in Renfrew, competing in the GCFA Conference Division. Founded with the vision of bringing friends back together through the game they love, Remo FC combines ambition on the pitch with a strong commitment to health, wellbeing, and community.

Their squad ranges from talented young players aged 17 to experienced teammates in their mid-20s — many of whom played at high levels growing up. The club offers them the chance to rediscover their passion for football while promoting positive mental health and an active lifestyle.

This season, their aim is simple: compete with hunger, belief, and togetherness. The club have high hopes for silverware and promotion, and are determined to make an impact in their debut campaign.

At Remo FC, football is more than a game — it’s about friendship, resilience, and inspiring the Renfrew community.

RIVER NEVIS

River Nevis was founded in 2014, making them one of the GCFA’s longest-serving clubs. Originating from a group of friends who came from the Fort William area of the Highlands, the team has always aimed to maintain a strong Highland identity through its management, sponsorship, and players—though in recent years, the number of highland lads has declined in the squad.

Last season marked the club’s 10-year anniversary, and they made a fantastic start to life in the Championship. However, player departures and retirements ultimately derailed their promotion hopes, and the campaign fizzled out.

The 2025/26 season signals a fresh start, with the club focusing on rebuilding a new committed group of players in the squad for the right reasons. It promises to be a challenging year, but one the team is eager to embrace. Their ambition is simple: to play with passion, pride, and finish as high up the table as possible.

River Nevis were in a very tough qualifying group which played its part in the club finishing in the Conference League positions.

A new season will bring a new start for River Nevis and this season could be the season they taste success

ROSEBANK UNITED

Rosebank United are three years old and they have been on one hell of a journey under Colin Stevenson.

The clubs first season within the GCFA and amateur football was a learning experience with everyone sticking together through a tough opening campaign.

United got their rewards last season when they were arguably the most improved team of 2024/25 and they just missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

The club will be playing their football in the Conference League after a disappointing qualifying campaign.

WESTHILL UNITED

Westhill United are going into their second season in the Glasgow Colleges Football Association and they will be happy with their first season as a club.

United have made great strides off the park under the guidance of Conner Moffat and Gary Cook.

On the park Westhill were unlucky not to finish in the top half of the Boca Championship League table before the league split.

Coming into the new season brought a new air of confidence about Westhill as they won the prestigious Clydebank Red Star tournament giving themselves a taste for success.

The club will found themselves going into their second Conference league this season and they will certainly be going all out to finish in at least a promotion place.
