Glasgow Ansar v Cathcart AFC – We’re Going Up!

When everything’s on the line, some teams find that extra gear. Ansar, quite simply, found theirs when they needed it most.
Going into this decider, Ansar sat bottom with a minus-three goal difference. Championship qualification was everything – and they delivered when it mattered.

The Performance…

First half saw a completely different Ansar – crisp passing, winning every ball, the complete team performance that had been missing. Both sides had chances but lacked clinical finishing.
Second half, Ansar found another level. The opener was pure class – Babee’s perfect pass found Aqib, who twisted his marker inside out and finished from the tightest angle.
The second was brilliant opportunism. Aqib closed down a clearance, forced the keeper into a hurried kick, then threw himself at the ball to block it straight back into the net. Never stopped believing.
Captain Bendy was magnificent in midfield and defence – the performance that earns you the armband. Saka put his body on the line time and again.
