Port Glasgow Boys Club hit four last Burnhill FC

MATCH REPORT

Midweek football is back again for your Roving Reporter and this time the match took place on a lovely sunny night at Parklea Sports Centre.

After arriving at the Car park to battle it out for around ten minutes for a parking space i eventually found one and headed to the park, luckily for me i had my step counter on as it was another ten minute walk to the pitch.

The first 15 mins of this game were really evenly contested with not much happening in the way of goal mouth action.

Burnhill were very unlucky when what looked like a stone wall penalty kick was turned down, The Burnhill striker went through on goal and looked to be clipped by the PGBC keeper.

The home side did take the lead when some nice midfield play let to a clever ball to the back post which the inform Kelly thundered into the back if the net. 1-0 !!!!

The Burnhill defence seemed to go missing as moments later a hopeful punt put the ever impressive Kelly through on goal and he beat the keeper with a slotted finish. 2-0 !!!!!!

Burnhill were not out the game and some clever play Monti led to a shot from outside the box finishing just over the cross bar.

Another chance fell the way for Burnhill as the ball bobbled around the penalty area before falling to the number 10 who curled a shot just past the post.

A miss of the season contender for Port Glasgow as a long ball in behind burnhill caught out their defender who took a sloppy touch, With the goal at his mercy the striker missed from around two yards out.

The GCFA new were taking control now and a nice ball in behind the defence led to the Burnhill number one making a stunning save.

HALF TIME – PORT GLASGOW BOYS CLUB 4 BURNHILL 0

Another competitive start to the half with not much action happening in the goal mouth front.

Burnhill v PGBC

PGBC did score fifteen minutes into the second half and kill the game when another long ball ovet the top and clever finish from striker Kearns. 3-0 P.G.B.C !!!!!

This game was being played in wonderful spirits between the clubs and as far as i can remember their were no real flash points or major unsavoury moments in the match

Game over now as another clever pass from number 10 through to the dangerous PGBC attacker Ruddy who yet again took a nice touch and produced a cool finish beating the keeper from close range. 4-0 P.G.B.C !!!!!

Moments later the official blew for full time and there were handshakes all around after a good game of football on a very hot night.

THOUGHTS FROM PGBC

Good win in hot conditions, another comfortable performance for lads tonight took us while to get into it but we ran out well deserved winners which will see us play in the Glasgow Colleges Football Association/ Scottish Premier AFA Championship Division⚽️

ROVING REPORTER

FF roving reporter

A Wednesday night well spent at Parklea watching GCFA new boys Port Glasgow Boys Club take on the unpredictable Burnhill,

This was a good game of football to watch and the match was well contested throughout but PGBCs pace in crucial areas was the major difference in the game.

The ever impressive Kelly up top for Port Glasgow was a difference maker as his pace and movement caused Burnhill all sorts of problems.

A shout out must also go to the referee Paul Stewart who i thought was excellent tonight and never really put a foot wrong.

Well done to both teams on providing some much needed entertainment on a very warm night.
