Your Club – our weekly spotlight on the teams that make GDSFC Sunday football what it is. Their story, their passion, their game. #GDSFCUnleashed”

Age: 26
Club: Cambusnethan Thistle AFC
How tough or enjoyable has pre-season been?
It’s been a solid mix of both. Pre-season is always tough physically, but the group’s attitude has made it enjoyable. There’s a real hunger and togetherness in training which makes even the hardest sessions worthwhile.

How’s the fitness compared to last pre-season (yours and/or the team’s)?
I’d say both mine and the team’s fitness are ahead of where we were this time last year. The sessions have been intense and focused, and you can tell the lads have come back with something to prove.
What personal goals are you setting for yourself this season?
I want to be more consistent in my performances. This season, I’ll be playing more defensively, so my focus is on bringing consistency, leadership, and solid defensive performances every week. I want to help tighten things up at the back, communicate well, and be someone the team can rely on. Clean sheets and building from the back are key goals for me.

Who’s the biggest motivator in the squad? Any unsung leaders?
We’ve got a few vocal lads who drive the team on. But there are also a couple who lead by example in the way they train and carry themselves. You don’t always need to shout to be a leader, and we’ve got a good mix of both types.
How are you feeling ahead of the new season?
Buzzing for it. There’s a real sense of belief in the squad this year. I feel sharp, focused, and ready to get going.

What roles/positions do you see yourself playing within the team?
I see myself being versatile this season — whether that’s through the middle as a Cm, or deeper if needed at CB. I’m happy to do whatever the team needs.
What game are you most looking forward to ?
Honestly, the next one. That’s always my focus — one game at a time. Every match is a chance to improve, compete, and help the team push forward. No point looking too far ahead.

Do you feel the team is stronger than last season?
Definitely. We’ve added quality in key areas, and the chemistry is better too. Everyone seems more dialled in and focused.
How would you describe the spirit in the squad?
Class. Good patter and good work ethic. Everyone works for each other, and that’ll take us far this season.
Any players you think will surprise people this year?
Yeah, a few of the younger lads and new signings have really impressed already. They’ve come in flying.
