After a very successful tenure of Managing the Corinthians, Gavin Lawlor steps down.

Corinthians were formed 3 years ago and were allowed entry into the GCFA premier. Gavin then led them to premier league victory in their first year.

In year 2 – the Corinthians were decimated with injuries to key players. However, in year 3 the Corinthians went on to win the league by winning 19 out of 22 games; with no draws and only 3 losses, as well as being runners up in the GCFA Premier League Cup, against Rutherglen Glencairn, in a dramatic 5-4 penalty shoot out.

A source close to Gavin asked him about his decision to step down and he said: “being part of the original group of players whose idea it was to form the Corinthians, I am delighted with our success in the GCFA Premier over the past 3 years. The idea of forming the Corinthians began about 10 years ago over beers. We always said at the end of our careers we should start a team and finish off our playing days together.

It’s crazy to think the originals all went to School together in Cumbernauld. However, we have been very lucky to attract other excellent players – through playing with them over the years. I always said that I would get the team up and running but I always intended to step aside. I think this is a great time to do that having won 2 leagues and being runners up in a cup. I will be staying with the Corinthians in a committee role”.

We wish Gavin all the best in his new role and we welcome Jonny Boyle as the new Corinthians Manager.
